Yesterday a few of us sent $10.oo each to Unicef for the people in Haiti... I have been out of work since the end of October, but will be throwing in another $10.00 to Doctors without Borders! Red Cross not bad either...

I'm thinking (ouch) if all the ragulars (kind of like that spelling) here & the lurkers also will match that, that's a pretty serious chunck of change for people that didn't have much to start with...

Any Takers???

Not really, just google Unicef, Drs. Without Borders, Red Cross. Also heard on the news earlier that Bill Clinton and weenie Bush are doing something to help...

:)

I know, $10.00 bucks ain't much, but if a 100 people, or even 50 do... Like I told you, what I said... A cgood sized chunk of change!!!

For donating $10 to the Red Cross, just text HAITI to 90999

It will be automatically deducted from your phone bill.

This one works well, billed to your phone. Verifies before the charge as well so you know what you are getting into.

I joined you at Doctor Without Borders. I had a friend who volunteered for them last year. Great organization.

Yele Haiti organized by Wyclef Jean is another good place to donate.

The site is yele.org but it doesn't open at the moment - I hope they haven't been overwhelmed.

I'd be leery of Wyclef's org.

Thanks. I am not sure what to think - my university recommended them, and today I see that google also recommends them.

Cheque in the post to UNICEF earlier today. I like the way they're in for the long haul helping take care of traumatised kids.

I as you have been unemployed for over a year but the pain I saw from Haiti motivated me to make my Unicef donation $10 a month.

God I hope it never gets tough enough I can't afford that to help others.

Thanks to everyone who could and did and those who can't don't get bummed out; you do when you can and if ya have to accept the help from those who offer.

And if you don't feel motivated to join in and could, that's your own; help those you want when your feelin it.

Charity is a interesting impulse in the human dynamic. IS it what separates us from other species or is it what makes us whole?

My family gave $40 to MercyCorps. The first $250,000 donated is being matched by an anonymous donor.

For some reason the link didn't work. Here's a tinyurl version of it.

Here's some info about the organization:
